SEO Mentors

We want our interns to have the best possible experience during their internships so they will be the top hiring choices at their firms at the end of the summer. To assist this, students are allocated senior industry mentors to help guide them through their summer experiences and ensure they outperform their peers.  In addition they are also given a buddy who has recently completed the same internship with the same firm to ensure they are specifically prepared for what to expect and how to excel during their placement.

Mentors

Every SEO intern will be given a mentor who is a leader in the industry. Your mentor will work with you before and during the summer to provide you with guidance and support on how to maximise your chances of success.

SEO mentors will typically work in the same business area as you at a different firm and will therefore be completely independent and objective.

Interns can speak with mentors about how to best approach their internship and what they should focus on to secure a graduate role.  Many mentors have been in a position where they have assessed interns at their own firm so their advice is often invaluable in ensuring you focus on the most important elements of your placement.  They can provide guidance on how to navigate through the industry, specific job challenges, career advice and even personal questions.  In addition they may also be able to consider you for their own firm’s graduate programme – in 2010, 38 SEO supported students received graduate offers from the firm of their SEO mentor.

Buddies

Every SEO intern will also meet with the SEO alumni from the previous year’s class who completed the same internship with the same firm and in the same business area. Your SEO buddy will help to ensure you are prepared specifically for the unique challenges of your particular placement (in terms of the work, people you will interact with, assessment process, etc.). The SEO buddy is invaluable in giving you the “inside scoop” on the working environment and work expectations so that you can better prepare yourself to succeed during the internship.
